Today’s 101 #1 Song of The Day comes from a Houston, TX nativeone of the first non-Jamaicans to record reggae in Jamaica. He had a successful acting and pop recording career earlier in the 50’s; and in 1965 he started a record company with a partner but it was his comeback hit from 1972 that would make him most famous. The record company he started was called JODA and it was based in New York. One of its noteable signings was a group of brothers ages 9,11,15 and 16. Four brothers, not 5 – it was the Cowsills! He went on to sign another noteable group from Jamaica…Bob Marley and the Wailers. Bob had showed him the ropes in Jamaica and by 1972 he was ripe for a comeback with a song he wrote and recorded and it’s today’s 101 #1 Song for Johnny Nash “I Can See Clearly Now”
