Today’s 101 #1 Song of the day was written to be a vampire love song and it ended up with today’s featured artist because she went to a Meatloaf concert. The singer saw Meatloaf and decided his producer should be her producer so she approached Jim Steinman and he presented her with the song he had written for a musical rendition of Nosferatu. He said it’s about the power of darkness and love’s place in dark. He wanted to make the song a showpiece for the singer’s voice, comparing her voice to John Fogerty’s. Oh, and Meatloaf reportedly got upset when she got the song as he was expecting to record it! Once the song hit the charts in 1983, it rose to number one and stayed there for 4 weeks…for Bonnie Tyler. “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is your 101 #1 Song of the Day
