Today’s 101 #1 Song of the Day was recorded by Albert Hammond who cowrote the song and it was the title track of his 1976 album. The following year it was recorded by the artist who take it to number one. It would be the second #1 single in a row and mark the peak of his career.  The artist was touring Nashville on the heels of that success when he hurt his knee and was taken to the hospital by a security guard who also happened to work for Elvis! It was August and he had made plans to meet with the King and it was that very day that Elvis died. So, he never got to meet him. His number one song on this day in 1977 was the follow up to “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” – it’s Leo Sayer and “When I Need You” is your 101 #1 Song of the Day.
