Americans have fewer PETS than they did 5 years ago – to the tune of about 9.5 million.
Two reasons according to the American Veterinary Association:
Economics – people can’t afford it
Demographics – fewer family units living together and families are more likely to have pets.
Cats really getting the short end of the stick as people have 2 million fewer dogs but over 7 million fewer cats!

Toe-besity
Having fat toes is called “toe-besity”, at least according to New York-based podiatrist Dr. Oliver Zong. Dr. Zong removes fat from toes and also performs toe shortenings. Another New York podiatric surgeon, Dr. Hillary Brenner, says a number of patients – mostly women – have come to her hoping to have their pinky toes removed in order to fit into smaller shoes! She always turns them down, however. “Why fix something that’s not broken?” she said.
According to a new Harris Interactive survey, women are more likely than men to have this (23% of women compared to 19% of men). The answer is in picture form…
