I wanted to put this up on the website so I don’t bore you with it on the air. I haven’t really been talking about it much, but the reason I sound so out-of-it on the air these days is that I had a stroke (actually three small ones) just over two weeks ago. I was in the hospital for four days and I’ve been back at work for about a week now. I don’t think I’m close to 100% as far as my performance is concerned but I’m doing my best and feeling better and stronger every day. The people here at 101 Gold have been wonderfully supportive and have told me to take it at my own pace. Listeners on the phone have been extraordinary in their expressions of affection and support. Thank you all. I wish I could give each of you a big hug. Hopefully when I’m fully recovered I’ll be able to. I appreciate your patience, believe me I know my work isn’t up to my usual standards but I’ll be back to normal just as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your expressions of support. Don’t let anybody kid you, that stuff really does make a difference.
Happy Birthday to Linda Ronstadt, who turns 67 today.
The Rolling Stones wrap up their “50 and Counting” tour Saturday night in London. Here they are in December performing in Newark.
President Obama said yesterday that broccoli is his favorite food. This is quite a change from former President George H.W. Bush, who once said he hates broccoli. Comedy Central did a post on their Indecision blog saying “Obama tells kid journalist his favorite food is broccoli. And his favorite activity is lying to children.”
The Eagles launched their 40th anniversary tour Saturday in Louisville. Don Henley says it could be the Eagles’ last major tour. Here they are Saturday night.
The Rolling Stones will return to London’s Hyde Park on July 6th for the first time since July 5th, 1969 to play the first of two shows — the second being set for July 13th — which, as of now, marks the end of the band’s 50 & Counting Tour dates.
