The harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel, the Beach boys, the Mamas and the Papas and even the Beatles can be traced to one source and it’s the same source that gave us today’s 101 number one song of the day.
They were two brothers who were barely out of diapers when they began performing on the radio in Shenadoah, Iowa. They’d get up early each morning to go on at six o’clock. Then they’d go to school. When they were old enough they headed to Nashville where they eventually got a record contract for a four side deal. Their second recording was thought to be a bit suggestive and some radio stations even banned it. But that didn’t keep it from reaching number one where it ruled on October 15, 1957 for the Everly Bros. (Wake up Little Susie)
