When the 101 number one song of the day reached the top it was the third straight number one song for a guy from a family that was dominating the charts like no other family had ever dominated the charts. Plus it was only the third single he had ever released. No other solo act had ever had his first three singles go to number one.
He was the youngest brother of a musical family that not only cranked out numbers ones for themselves but their compositions that others recorded were getting there also. Yvonne Elliman took one of their songs to number one and a couple of months after today’s featured single reached the top, Frankie Valli ruled the charts with another one of their songs. But on June 20th, 1978 the song that would be heading the Billboard Top 100 for seven weeks and would go on to be the biggest seller for the entire year was one by Andy Gibb. And this is it: Shadow Dancing.
