The Beatles‘ are still such a big deal that a rare 45 demo of their first single. “Love Me Do,” recently sold on eBay for $10,000. The 45 was one of only 250 made for radio airplay in 1962. The demo was from a personal collection and predates the Parlophone imprints of the single. When the song was released the group were unknowns and the writing credits instead of listing Lennon-McCartney read ‘McArtney.’

  • The song only climbed to Number 17 in the United Kingdom but it paved the way for the group to release “Please Please Me,” which launched their careers.
  • According to Rollingstone.com, another copy of the demo sold for $17,000 in an auction in 2011.
