The 101 number one song of the day was pure child’s play – literally. It got to the top with vocals recorded by a group of second graders.
Ray Ragsdale wrote and produced the song as his first effort for his new label, Barnaby Records. To underscore the optimisn of the song, he took a portable tape recorder to his daughters’ school and arranged for her class to go to the auditorium and sing the chorus. They enjoyed the experience and America enjoyed the result. By June 10, 1970 it was the number one song on Billboard’s Hot 100 and it’s today’s 101 number one song of the day. By the way, by this time Ray changed his last name from Ragsdale to – Stevens. (Everything is Beautiful)
