Listen for the replay to win Golden Corral buffet for two (adults)

The 101 number one song of the day was one of the earliest compositions written by songwriting legends Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller although it took a few years for it to get going…but once it did, it seemed like everyone wanted to record it.

Little Richard did a version and so did Hank Ballard who wrote the Twist.  Later, the Beatles did a cover which they included on the British album, “Beatles for Sale”  The song was written in 1952 but the year it really took off was 1959 when there were no fewer than six different released almost simultaneously.  But by far, the most successful of the releases was number one this week in ‘59 and it was recorded by Wilbert Harrison – Kansas City
