Anne Hathaway has earned a lot of acclaim for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables but this award season has also brought her a lot of haters. Even though she seems to be the front-runner to win the Oscar for best supporting actress, many people have found her previous acceptance speeches to be insufferable.
Anne took home a BAFTA trophy on Sunday (February 10th) for her performance and UK’s Daily Mail is reporting that Twitter users began bashing the actress for her drawn out, overly gracious speech. One user wrote, “Sigh. There Anne Hathaway goes again, being all surprised and honored and humble with a carefully rehearsed extemporaneous speech. #BAFTA” Another user joked that her speech was longer than her actual screen time in Les Mis.
- In addition to the BAFTA award, Anne has won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for her work.
