The Day The Music Died

Sunday is the anniversary of “The Day The Music Died” as popularized in the Don McLean song “American Pie.”

It was the day (February 3, 1959) Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J. P. Richardson (known as The Big Bopper) died in a plane crash after a performance in Clear Lake, Iowa.  This video shows the Big Bopper in an appearance on American Bandstand in 1958.
