1879: Thomas Edison first publicly demonstrated his electric incandescent light in Menlo Park, NJ.

1980: T.J. Flourny retired after 34 years as Sheriff of Fayette County, TX. That’s important ’cause he was the guy who refused to close the Chicken Ranch in 1973.
1989: In a Dallas newspaper poll, Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson was voted the most annoying sports person on the face of the earth! The man who was second is pictured above …think he’s claimed the number one spot by now?
1985: In music history, a famous singer who grew up on his parents’ TV show was killed along with 6 others in a plane crash near DeKalb, TX. He was 45 years old. Click to see a Rick Nelson video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUDRZ5j0lUQ
