Edna Willis worked with Johnny Rivers and Ray Charles, Carolyn Willis toured with Lou Rawls and Shellie Clark was an Ikette behind Ike and Tina Turner. The three teamed up to sing backup vocals for Burt Bacharach on a 1969 TV special starring Andy Williams. It was then they got the idea to form a group of their own. Their biggest hit – which reached number one on June 12, 1971- was written by the lead singer of the group “Chairman of the Board” whose name is General Johnson – It’s “Want Ads” by the Honey Cone
