Two wrongs don’t make a right. The city is making a huge mistake by cutting off the utilities for outstanding tickets. Who came up with such a ridiculous idea? Did the city manager sit for hours in meetings deciding this was the best alternative for the city to get their money? That’s ridiculous.
This will only cause a domino effect in the lives of people who are unemployed, underpaid, living on a fixed income and moneyless people.
I don’t have a solution to this problem, but I certainly don’t agree with the cutting off of utilities.
I guess they need to come up with revenue for their silly Gost Town. Who thought of the idea for the Gost Town. Did they put it up for a vote? Are we the tax payers paying for this ridiculous idea?
There are several large suits against our county and our people in charge are thinking up silly things instead of taking care of business.
Make the fines for red light runners associated with traffic, take away their driving privileges, because driving is a privilege. I agree with Terry it is a big mistake.
Just thinking about the city taking this kind of action actually makes me sad. The city would actually allow those families who have small children, to go without running water just because their parents cannot obey the law when it comes to speeding and running red lights? Seems like it will do much more harm than anything else. It would be awesome of they could actually scrounge up the money to pay their fines, only to be left with no extra money to turn their water back on. We as a society have really come to such a point?
Who’s brillant idea is this? Is this even legal? The stupidity of some individuals in this town never ceases to amaze me. Let me see if I understand this; The city is thinking of cutting off individuals gas/water to those who have failed to pay their traffic tickets during the time of year when the weather reaches 100 degrees, possibly; leaving the guilty individuals’ children with no water or use of their swamp coolers. So, with this correlation in mind I can assume individuals who can not pay their gas/water bills are subject to jail time. I guess individuals who reside in the county and do not have Las Cruces utilities are not subject to this punishment, woo hoo, sounds fair to me.

I strongly object to that concept because it is not only hurting the driver, but his whole family. Punish the driver, not the family!
