1937: The world’s attention was fixed on Lakehurst, New Jersey on this day in history. What happened?

1937 The Hindenburg crashes in Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 35 of the 97 people onboard. It’s a wonder there were any survivors at all.

1954: At a track meet in Oxford, England, medical student Roger Bannister became the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes (3:59.4)

1973: In Boston, one half of a famous duo began his first tour without the other half. It was Pual Simon without Art Garfunkel.
